In order to respond to the requirements of the National Energy Eleventh Five Year Plan, strengthen international mutually beneficial cooperation in energy strategy, and adapt to the booming development of the new renewable energy industry, under the guidance and support of the Shanghai Economic Commission, Shanghai Social Service Bureau, Shanghai Social Organization Management Bureau, and Shanghai Industrial and Economic Federation, the Shanghai New Energy Industry Association, with Shanghai as the core, radiates to the whole country, faces the world, and comprehensively launches various work in the industry.

The association has more than 200 member units, including equipment companies, design units, investment groups, and power grid companies in the new energy industry. The purpose of this association is to promote the exchange of technical and economic information within the industry association, facilitate the connection between members and the government, society, and relevant organizations at home and abroad, promote the progress of new energy technology and the promotion of advanced technology, and provide trading, technology, and information services for new energy enterprises at home and abroad.

The service functions of this association are:
1. The association has a team of experts related to the new energy industry to assist the government, help the industry develop industry standards, and provide technical consulting services to enterprises.
2. The association will establish a cooperative alliance with international cooperation agencies, international testing and appraisal institutions, and industry associations to provide one-stop services such as testing, appraisal, international inspection, exchange and cooperation for member units.
3. The association can provide technology market services to member units, including Shanghai High tech Achievement Transformation Project Certification, Western Project Management, assisting small and medium-sized enterprises in applying for government funding such as the "Technology Innovation Fund for Science and Technology based Small and Medium sized Enterprises", and a series of engineering technology management services.
4. The association will implement the work of releasing enterprise product information, providing technical retention services, and regulating industry self-discipline; Carry out the work of evaluating and approving intermediate and senior technical titles for private enterprises in this association; Carry out the evaluation and application work for Shanghai's high-tech achievement transformation projects and high-tech enterprises.
5. The association has the ability to organize large-scale international exhibitions and engage in technical and academic exchanges. On New Year's Day in 2007, the "Shanghai New Energy Network" was launched, and the industry journal "Shanghai New Energy" was published and distributed, forming a composite platform of three-dimensional and two-dimensional interaction, promoting the development of the new energy industry.
